U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) today voted in favor or H.R. 6, the 21st Century Cures Act, a landmark bipartisan bill he co-sponsored which speeds up the cures process for rare diseases -- developing treatments more quickly, then making them accessible for more patients faster. This act is the result of more than a year of working with patients and experts about what actions Congress can take to help researchers, caregivers, and innovators in order to deliver more cures, treatments, and therapies to American families.

"As devastating as the diagnoses of a rare disease can be, it is even more disturbing to realize how difficult it can be to access a commercially viable cure," said Rep. Denham. "The 21st Century Cures Act will continue to increase time and resources allocated towards fighting the most devastating diseases we face today. This legislation will mean more cures for more families, increasing quality and length of life for the millions of Americans who suffer from rare diseases."
